Financiera FAMA, a leader institution in the microfinance industry in Nicaragua, and stands out for providing loans to tens of thousands micro entrepreneurs in the productive, commercial and industrial sectors through its network of branches. Many of them don’t have access to traditional banks. FAMA facilitates them with loans and educational finance.
A typical client of FAMA is a woman, in the age of 30-45 years, that has a commercial activity. In many cases they are single mothers, taking care of three to four persons, so they can improve the quality of their lives and that of their family.
FAMA has developed special courses to educate their clients in business administration and to make sure they don’t get tempted to take out more loans than they can afford. It has also started to offer loans for home improvement.
